Hello Everyone, I am Siddharth Lal here with the review of the India’s cheapest car “Tata Nano Twist”. Tata introduced Nano in the year 2008 at the price of Rs 1 lakhs with the motive of catering to the two wheeler owners who now can upgrade to their first car. But Tata failed to gather huge volumes of sale of the Nano, reasons might be the inappropriate branding done by Tata. At the beginning all the Nano ads use to depict that Nano is a car meant for only two wheeler owners as they can’t afford any other car, to my opinion is wrong; as today everybody demands prestige and no one would like to own a car who’s image is of a cheap car. Even Maruti-Suzuki didn't promote their 800 and Alto in this way by portraying them as cheap cars. Other reasons can be the poor brand image of Tata Motors in India and their not to good after-sale services. Tata later came up with new and exciting advertisements of the Nano plus they considerably improved and refined the new Nano Twist. Now lets find out how the Nano is actually, is it worth-buying or not. I will be posting a separate review of the Auto transmission variant of the Nano later next week.

Exterior Styling:

The Nano looks like an egg-shaped car though looks cute and cool. The head-lamps with black bezels and piano black sleek grill accentuates coolness and funkiness. The race-lines on the side profile looks good and the rear end with roof spoiler, clear tail-lamps and honey-comb rear bumper grill adds sportiness. The overall design of the car has been well integrated and makes the Nano look like a compact hatch.

Interiors:

Nano Twist gets a two-tone Beige-Black dashboard with the speedometer placed above the centre console and small dual glovebox with speakers on the dashboard makes the dashboard design look good. The car gets a in-dash integrated music system with 4 speakers and CD, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity. The 3-spoke Tata Signature steering wheels with silver accents adds style. The overall fit and finish of the interiors are excellent for a car at this price.

Excellent cabin space

The car has tremendous cabin space with good shoulder room at the front and can seat 2 full-sized adults at the rear. Even the rear leg-room is good (better than Alto).  The Nano has all four power windows and an electric power steering with active return feature. The Nano now has a small 94 litres boot which can fit two small bags or a medium suitcase. Even the Air-conditioner is superb like all the other Tata cars.

Engine and Gearbox:

Tata offers a 624cc 2 cylinder petrol engine with both 4- speed manual and 5-speed automatic transmission which generates a power of 38Bhp at 5500RPM and 51Nm torque at 4000RPM returning a claimed milage of 23.9 Km/L. The NVH level of the Nano has been improved and now it doesn't sound much like a water-motor pump.

Performance and Handling:

I have driven Nano a couple of times and in my opinion the car is exciting to drive. The acceleration and throttle response is good and is effortless to drive in the city due to its feather-light power steering and 4m turning radius. The steering response is good and the car controls well. The speed sensitive steering wheel cut-off after the speed of 80
